Shrouded Fable is the small, dark Scarlet & Violet special set built around Pecharunt and the Loyal Three, and two years on it's the Illustration Rares that carry the chase. Here are the top 10 hits and chase cards, ranked by current market value.

10. Munkidori - $28.52
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 072/064
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Munkidori is one of the Loyal Three, and this card has it perched in a blossoming tree at night, with pink and purple flowers glowing all around it. Teeziro drew it, the same artist behind the Kieran SIR on our Twilight Masquerade list. The Adrena-Brain Ability moves damage counters onto your opponent's Pokémon, which is why players kept it around.
9. Basic Metal Energy (Hyper Rare) - $30.82
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 099/064
Rarity: Hyper Rare
I never thought I'd rank an Energy card on a Top 10, but here we are. The Hyper Rare Basic Metal Energy is a full gold card with a big silver Metal symbol and sparkles all over it. It's the cheaper of the two gold Energies in the set, and you'll find its Darkness sibling much higher up.
8. Dusknoir - $32.14
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 070/064
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Dusknoir looms in a deep purple night with its single eye glowing, and it looks like it's been waiting for you. Cursed Blast puts 13 damage counters on one of your opponent's Pokémon, but Dusknoir knocks itself out to do it. James Turner drew the whole Duskull line in this set, so this is not our last look at his ghosts.
7. Fezandipiti ex - $34.62
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 092/064
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
The Loyal Three get another entry with Fezandipiti ex, swooping in with a swirl of red, orange, and black. The Flip the Script Ability draws you three cards after one of your Pokémon was Knocked Out, a nice comeback tool. kantaro, who also drew the Fuecoco and Jolteon on our Paldea Evolved and Prismatic Evolutions lists, made this one.
6. Cassiopeia - $41.23
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 094/064
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Penny... err, Cassiopeia, is the Team Star boss in her hacker alter ego, hooded and typing in a dark room full of glowing code, with her Sylveon watching from the side. It's a cool, cyber look that nobody else in the set has. You can only play this Supporter when it's the last card in your hand, and then you search your deck for two cards.
5. Duskull - $49.26
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 068/064
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Now we're getting into the real chase cards for Shrouded Fable. Duskull floats down a quiet street at night next to a trash can and a little house, looking a bit lost. James Turner drew it, and he's known for designing Shadow Lugia from Pokémon XD. Come and Get You puts up to three Duskull from your discard pile onto your Bench.
4. Horsea - $50.50
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 067/064
Rarity: Illustration Rare
It never fails with Kanto Pokémon and Illustration Rares. Horsea drifts through a bright coral reef with bubbles rising around it, and the whole card is full of blues and teals. Shinya Komatsu painted it. It's a calm underwater scene, and it's somehow worth more than a Special Illustration Rare in this set.
3. Houndoom - $57.86
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 066/064
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Houndoom is drawn in black, white, and gray, growling out of the shadows with its fangs bared. Taiga Kasai gives the Johto Dark and Fire Pokémon a sketchy ink look, and the lack of color is what makes it stand out. It's the most menacing card in the top ten, and a fun contrast with the cozy ones.
2. Basic Darkness Energy (Hyper Rare) - $58.04
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 098/064
Rarity: Hyper Rare
The gold Basic Darkness Energy is the second most valuable card in the set, which I still find a little funny. It's a Hyper Rare with a dark crescent in the middle and sparkles across the gold. Fans of the Dark type, collectors who like a complete set, and anyone who likes shiny things have all made it a chase.
1. Persian - $75.18
Set: Scarlet & Violet: Shrouded Fable
Card Number: 078/064
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Persian is the undisputed top pull in Shrouded Fable, and it beats every Hyper Rare and Special Illustration Rare in the set. Whisker drew two Persians sitting on a balcony at night, red curtains framing a glowing city, with one of the Classy Cat Pokémon looking back at you. That quiet, cinematic scene is why collectors keep picking it up.
Final Thoughts
Shrouded Fable is a small set that still has a lot to chase. A Persian Illustration Rare takes the top spot, the gold Energy cards hold their own, and James Turner's ghosts show up twice. It's a great reminder that a set doesn't need a huge Special Illustration Rare lineup to have chase cards worth pulling. I'd keep an eye on Dusclops, just outside this list.
