10. Mega Rayquaza ex - $15.42
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 084/103
Rarity: Double Rare
Our first, but not our last, Mega Rayquaza ex on the list. This is the regular Double Rare, with purple lightning crackling around Rayquaza against a burst of yellow, and it's the one you'll actually pull in a normal pack. Ruler's Roar lets you attach a Basic Energy from the top four cards of your deck when you play it to your Bench. Mega Rayquaza in the name is enough to keep it here.
9. Nitro Fire Energy - $19.00
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 134/103
Rarity: Ultra Rare
An Energy card in the top 10 doesn't happen often, but this is a full-art Ultra Rare with a swirling vortex of flames and a big Fire symbol in the middle. It does a job too. It provides Fire Energy, and if an attack from the Fire Pokémon it's attached to makes you discard it, it goes back into your hand.
8. Growlithe - $19.14
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 106/103
Rarity: Illustration Rare
It never fails. When a Kanto favorite gets an Illustration Rare, people love the card and start chasing it. Growlithe is looking up from an open doorway in a pink checkered room, mouth open and ready for a walk. It's a cozy card, and the text on it says Growlithe is very friendly and faithful to people.
7. Altaria - $21.05
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 116/103
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Altaria floats on a cloud against a bright blue sky, with little music notes drifting around it. The card says its humming makes you feel like you're in a dream, and the art backs that up. Gameplay-wise, Cottony Carrier gives all of your Basic Pokémon no Retreat Cost, which is pretty handy.
6. Kecleon - $28.88
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 117/103
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Kecleon is the dark horse of this top 10. You almost have to look twice to find it in a wall of hand-painted flowers and swirls, which fits the card's text about changing color to blend in with its surroundings. Illustrator Tomokazu Komiya went with the strangest art style on the list. Colorful Whip even rewards you for revealing different types from your hand.
5. Groudon - $34.98
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 111/103
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Now we're getting into the real chase cards for Delta Reign. Groudon rises out of lava and cracked rock in reds and blacks, and the card's text mentions its fight against Kyogre. Brutal Lands hits for 100 and does 170 more when a Stadium with "Legendary" in its name is in play. Delta Reign has three of those, Legendary Pyroduct, Legendary Summit, and Legendary Trench.
4. Eevee - $36.49
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 114/103
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Another Kanto favorite with an Illustration Rare, and this one is the biggest of the bunch. Illustrator Hideki Ishikawa has Eevee poking out of an open backpack, with a blue thermos and a half-unfolded map beside it, like it's along for a hike. The card's text says its unstable genetic makeup hides many possible evolutions.
3. Mega Golurk ex - $49.99
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 137/103
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Our first Special Illustration Rare. Mega Golurk ex swings a glowing fist at you out of cracked purple ruins, lit up by its own molten knuckles. It has 350 HP and Goliath's Punch hits for 300, with 30 damage back to itself. The catch is that Golurk can't attack unless you're holding 10 or more cards, which is kind of ridiculous to build around.
2. Zinnia's Trust - $74.94
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 140/103
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
The only Trainer on the list. Zinnia sits on a rocky ledge with beams of light and clouds behind her, and she's the Draconid trainer from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, where Rayquaza and Mega Evolution are at the center of her story. That makes her a good fit for a Mega Rayquaza set. The card switches your Active Pokémon with a Benched one and moves an Energy over with it.
1. Mega Rayquaza ex - $397.94
Set: Mega Evolution: Delta Reign
Card Number: 138/103
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
The undisputed top card of Delta Reign so far, and it isn't close. Illustrator Kazuki Minami wraps Mega Rayquaza ex in orange flames and green energy, and the whole card looks like it's on fire. Storm Emerald does 50 damage for each Fire Energy and Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokémon. The gold Mega Rayquaza ex doesn't have a price yet, so check back on release day to see if this one holds the spot.
Final Thoughts
Mega Rayquaza ex shows up twice in this top 10, but a Special Illustration Rare Trainer, Kanto favorites, and a few Illustration Rares round out the list. The gold Mega Rayquaza ex, the Raikou ex SIR, and the Mega Golisopod ex SIR aren't priced yet, so expect this list to shift once they are.
