10. Hilda - $44.03
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 171/086
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Hilda grins at the camera with one hand stretched out, and a team of Pokémon bursts out behind her in a flash of fire and lightning. There's a bright, breezy bridge and sky in the background, and the whole card is full of motion. It's one of the most energetic Trainer cards in the set.
9. Samurott - $52.17
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 107/086
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Samurott stands on a rocky shore under a pink sunset sky while a flock of Wingull circles overhead and waves crash below. DOM, who also drew Hop's Zacian ex on our Journey Together list, gives it a calm but serious look. This is how the Oshawott at #4 grows up.
8. Chandelure - $67.85
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 103/086
Rarity: Illustration Rare
My personal chase card of White Flare is a ghost throwing a dinner party. Chandelure floats above a long candlelit table full of roses, plates, and glasses in a dark mansion, and it looks a little spooky and a little fancy at the same time. It absorbs spirits to burn them, so it's a very Chandelure kind of dinner.
7. Hydreigon ex - $73.76
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 169/086
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Hydreigon ex tears through a thunderstorm over a ruined rocky landscape, with rain coming down hard and lightning flashing behind it. The three-headed dragon looks huge and mean. Hydreigon has been the Unova dark dragon since Black and White, and it also made our Surging Sparks list with a very different look.
6. Keldeo ex - $74.25
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 167/086
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Keldeo ex stands in a shallow stream surrounded by an autumn forest, with red and gold leaves drifting through the light and a waterfall behind it. The whole card glows with warm color. Keldeo is a Mythical from Black 2 and White 2, which makes it a natural fit for a Unova set.
5. Zoroark - $76.48
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 143/086
Rarity: Illustration Rare
Zoroark sits in a twisted forest with a hand to its chin and its long red mane flowing behind it, looking like it's plotting something. Illustrated by Iwamoto05. Zoroark is the trickster of Black and White, and it's N's Pokémon, so you'll find N's Zoroark ex on our Journey Together list too.
4. Oshawott - $83.34
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 105/086
Rarity: Illustration Rare
It never fails with Water starters and Illustration Rares. Oshawott is napping in a striped hammock above a sparkling beach, with red flowers scattered across the water below. OKACHEKE shot the scene from above, and the whole thing feels like a vacation postcard.
3. Reshiram ex - $179.38
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 166/086
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Now we're getting into the real chase cards for White Flare with Reshiram ex. kawayoo has the Vast White Pokémon twisting through a storm of pink petals and orange flame, with its white body glowing against all the color. Reshiram was the mascot of Black version, so seeing it lead White Flare is a fun flip. The silver version is coming up at #2.
2. Reshiram ex - $477.62
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 173/086
Rarity: Black White Rare
The Black White Rare Reshiram ex is a ghostly white-and-silver card drawn in fine etched lines by 5ban Graphics, with a soft rainbow shimmer across the whole thing. It's the quietest looking card on this list and one of the most expensive. Only one card is worth more, and it's red.
1. Victini - $554.95
Set: Scarlet & Violet: White Flare
Card Number: 172/086
Rarity: Black White Rare
Victini is the undisputed top pull in White Flare, and a Black and White favorite since the original games. The Black White Rare is entirely red, with 5ban Graphics drawing Victini in etched lines mid-flight and making a V sign. The card text says Trainers with Victini always win, which may be part of the appeal. The same art appears in Black Bolt, where the copy is worth a bit more.
Final Thoughts
White Flare came by its name honestly, with Reshiram's flames and a fiery red Victini leading the way. Two Black White Rares and a Special Illustration Rare sit at the top, but Illustration Rares like Oshawott and Zoroark show how much Unova love there is below them. Hydreigon ex and Keldeo ex are neck and neck, so don't be surprised if the bottom of this list shuffles.
