The Best OP-05 Awakening of the New Era Hits (October 2026)
Awakening of the New Era (OP-05) is the set where the One Piece TCG really took off with collectors. Gear 5 Luffy made its debut on screen and on cardboard for the first time, the live action Netflix series was gaining a lot of traction, and it was the first set with three Manga Rares. These are the best OP-05 hits, ranked by market value as of October 2026, original OP-05 prints only.

10. Sakazuki - $24.07
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-041
Rarity: Leader (Alt Art)
Sakazuki might have the smallest price tag here, but he was the best deck when OP-05 came out. Blue/Black Sakazuki had sat at the top of the format, trashing a card to draw and knocking an opposing Character's cost down every time he attacked. The alt art is just a close up of Akainu's Marine cap and the permanent scowl, which is about right for him.
9. Zoro-Juurou - $34.35
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-067
Rarity: Rare (Alt Art)
Zoro-Juurou is the name Zoro went by in Wano, and the alt art has him grinning mid-swing with a purple slash cutting across the card. When he attacks at 3 or fewer Life, he gets you an active DON!! back, which made him a nice comeback piece in Purple Luffy decks. Not bad for a standard Rare. The price has dipped a bit this month.
8. Enel - $38.40
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-098
Rarity: Leader (Alt Art)
Enel's Leader alt art is a big close-up of his wide-eyed and empty stare. In the game, he's the Leader that refuses to die. When your Life hits zero on your opponent's turn, he puts a card right back on top, once per turn. Enel actually won the North American Finals in this format.
7. Belo Betty - $51.35
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-002
Rarity: Leader (Alt Art)
Belo Betty commands the Revolutionary Army's East Army, and her Leader alt art is a close-up of her under that red hat, staring you down. Trash a Revolutionary Army card and up to three of your Revolutionary Army or Trigger Characters get +3000 power. The price has more than doubled this month, the biggest jump on this list.
6. Monkey.D.Luffy - $92.71
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-060
Rarity: Leader (Alt Art)
Purple Luffy was one of the strongest Leaders in OP-05, with big results in Oceania and Latin America. The alt art is a tight close-up of Luffy's face, locked in and ready to fight. He trades a Life card into your hand for an extra DON!!, which is a very Luffy way to play. Take a hit on purpose, then hit back harder.
5. Enel - $110.59
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-100
Rarity: Super Rare (Special Alt Art)
Now we're getting into the real chase cards for OP-05, starting with our second Enel. The special alt art has him standing in front of his ring of drums over a loud gold and purple pattern. My favorite part is the effect. He can trash a Life card instead of leaving the field, unless there's a Luffy on the board. Even the card game knows lightning doesn't work on rubber.
4. Monkey.D.Luffy - $169.99
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-119
Rarity: Secret Rare (Alt Art)
Enel's worst nightmare is up next. The Gear 5 Secret Rare alt art has Luffy in that white, cartoony form, laughing, with big "GEAR" lettering stamped behind him. His On Play lets you return 10 DON!! to put your other Characters on the bottom of your deck and take an extra turn. The price has dropped about 31 percent over the last three months.
3. Eustass"Captain"Kid - $957.24
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-074
Rarity: Super Rare (Manga Alt Art)
Kid is the third of OP-05's three Manga Rares, and he gets a little less attention than the other two. I think that's a mistake. He's front and center with his giant metal arm and that red coat, manga panels stacked up behind him. Manga Rares in this set came out at roughly one per hundred boxes, so none of these were ever easy to find.
2. Trafalgar Law - $1,700.58
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-069
Rarity: Super Rare (Manga Alt Art)
Law has come a long way since his Romance Dawn Leader. His manga card has him raising his sword in that long blue cloak, and one of the panels behind him reads "fulfilling someone's long-held desire!!" If you know his history with Corazon, who has his own Leader card in this set, that line hits hard. It's up about 10 percent this month.
1. Monkey.D.Luffy - $5,700.00
Set: One Piece Card Game: Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Card Number: OP05-119
Rarity: Secret Rare (Manga Alt Art)
Manga Gear 5 Luffy is the undisputed best card in OP-05 and one of the biggest cards in the whole game. This set was the first time Gear 5 ever showed up on a card, just a few months after the anime finally aired the transformation. Luffy is laughing in that giant, cartoony pose over panels straight from the manga. There's a Premium Booster reprint, but graded original OP-05 copies have sold for close to double.

Final Thoughts
Awakening of the New Era came by its name honestly. Gear 5 is literally Luffy's Devil Fruit awakening, and this is the set where One Piece collecting woke up too. Between three Manga Rares and Leaders that ran the tournament scene, collectors and players were both chasing it. Some prices have cooled off this fall, but Manga Gear 5 is still the card most people picture when they think of One Piece collecting.
FAQ
What is the best card in One Piece OP-05?
It's the Manga Gear 5 Luffy (OP05-119), by a wide margin. Trafalgar Law's manga card is second and Eustass Kid's manga card is third, all three from the original OP-05 print, not the Premium Booster reprints.
When did OP-05 Awakening of the New Era come out?
OP-05 came out in Japan in August 2023 and in English on December 8, 2023. It was the game's first anniversary set, and it was the first set to ever put Gear 5 Luffy on a card.
How many Manga Rares are in OP-05?
Three: Gear 5 Monkey D. Luffy, Trafalgar Law, and Eustass "Captain" Kid. OP-05 was the first set to have three, and they were tough pulls at roughly one per hundred boxes, so finding a specific one took a lot of opening.
Was the OP-05 Manga Gear 5 Luffy reprinted?
Yes. Premium Booster -The Best- reprinted it with the same art and card number. The reprint has a different set stamp, and graded original OP-05 copies have sold for close to double, so check the stamp before you buy.
What were the best OP-05 Leaders competitively?
Sakazuki was the top deck when OP-05 came out, with Enel and Purple Luffy right behind him. Enel even won the North American Finals in that format, and all three of their Leader alt arts made this list.
